WOW!!!!! Buy it!!

All I can say is, "WOW!!!" I received this book yesterday and went nuts trying to figure out what to play first! There are 150 wonderful songs in this book...all of which are old favorites. This is a large thick book, and it does not have a spiral binding, but it stays open easily on the music stand. The music is easy to read, and the arrangements are gorgeous. Lush harmonies complement the true-to-original melodies. I am a moderately advanced player, and found all the arrangements easy to interpret and execute quickly. A moderate level player would experience a lot of satisfaction with this book. I have an enormous collection of sheet music, but this book will be on my piano at all times, and I will likely buy a copy for my daughter for Christmas or her birthday. This is a LOT of really great music for a small price. I wish I had bought this book a long time ago.

Worth every penny!

As a retired senior with time now to play the piano to my heart's content, it fits the bill. The arrangements are simple enough to master with enough complexity for a rich sound. Broad range of songs by Cole Porter to Billy Joel can be enjoyed by all. What a bargain!

Coach and player, parent and child: This is a great simple yet technically accurate book for bringing home the basics of hitting for the young player. I'm using it now for a winter clinic on hitting (and pitching).
And at the price I saw on Amazon, its far cheaper than some baseball 'deals' available at some baseball coaching web sites.

Beautiful & Delicious!

I purchased Martha's special cookie magazine at Christmas a few years back, and it's simply falling apart now because I've made her cookies again and again. I was excited to see this book as a lot of my favorites from the cookie mag are included and the protective book allows me to keep these yummy recipes in one safe place. The photos are stunning - there's a pictorial table of contents (very unique!) based on things like 'soft and chewy' and 'crisp and crunchy' and there's even a delightful section in the back that shows you how to package your cookies for gifting. I simply can't wait to try the all the recipes!

Absolutely... Wonderful!

This is a wonderful cookie book. Martha Stewart recipes are really great. For those of you who are hesitant to buy this book, do not hesitate any longer. The cookies are splendid, the packaging wonderful (there are pictures for every cookie) and overall a great book of combined talent. So far I have tried the honey florentienes; cigarette russes; italian polenta cookies; choco. pistachio biscotti; buttered rum meltaways; thumbprints and Brown Butter Toffee blondies. The last two are the only ones thus far that I did not care for, but others seemed to like them. The rest, especially the biscotti and meltaways were awesome. Tonight, I try the rum raisin cookies...

I have read some of the reviews of this book saying that most of the recipes are the same ones over and over. For those of you who have or will recieve this book, Ms. Stewart points out that most cookie recipes contain the same base elements -- butter, milk, eggs, flour, etc. When you add different flavors, you will get different cookies. Any one who bakes should know this. Add several other ingredients and you will get a totally different textured cookies. Take away an ingredient or two and yet again, another texured cookie. As consumers and bakers we expect this from every type of edible food. This book, nor any other, is any different.

This cookie book is simple and beautiful. Also delicious... the Cookies, not the Book :) I highly recommend.

I love this book!

I have bought 4 copies of this book to give to friends because I love it. It is the perfect gift for anyone who likes to bake. I have been baking one new cookie every week with my son and daughter since we got this book in the summer.
What I love is that there are all types of recipes, simple ones and more complex, with a wide variety of flavors. The book is divided by cookie categories: Light and Delicate, Soft and Chewy, Crumbly and Sandy, Chunky and Nutty, Cakey and Tender, Crisp and Crunchy and Rich and Dense. Each category is accompanied with beautiful photos of the cookies, which are all shown in the table of contents. The book has beautiful layout (as always for martha books) and easy to follow recipes.

I realize that the contents of this book, concerning practically all aspects of the human body, cannot be free of controversy. It is understandable that experts can point out flaws of arguments and insufficient accuracy of details – I wrote this book with wide the general public in mind.

I would like to turn your attention to the fact that we know very little about our body and its close relationship with the natural environment. Our future life often depends on the method of treatment we choose in a case of a health crisis. In cases when mainstream medicine cannot offer any help, we should remember that there are natural therapies that can prove themselves very effective.

I am deeply convinced that we should be our own advisor and doctor in many situations. We need to attain enough knowledge about the way our body functions to be capable of eliminating the causes of our illness and suffering.

If, as a result of my advice, some people start feeling better, some get cured, and some realize the necessity of health maintenance, the objective of this book will be fulfilled.

You promote a healthy lifestyle. Have you always been healthy yourself?

I had once liver cirrhosis, caused by improper nutrition administered by my mother-physician. During my childhood, I frequently suffered from constipation. Spinal injuries caused me to lose sensation in my lower limbs for two years.

I would like to know where and how you gained knowledge that you have started sharing with other people?

During my university years, I took part in a scientific expedition to the Far East where I met with Tibetan monks. Their approach to the human body is different and very interesting. I learned some secrets from them that allow diagnosing of disorders from the way people look, walk, or even wear out their shoes. I also became convinced that it is never just a single organ that is ill in a human body. When something causes us pain and we start treating it, we are fighting symptoms and do not address causes. This is why the problem can manifest itself in some other place, causing pain associated with a completely different disease. I do not treat diseases as something concrete. They are just irregularities in our body’s normal functioning

About the Author
Mikhail Tombak, Ph.D. was the head of Center for Health Sciences in Moscow. He extensively studied Tibetan, Chinese and other Oriental alternative medicines, often experimenting on his own body, to become one of the world greatest authorities on health, longevity, and human body in general. He is the author of several books on health, self-help and longevity.

CHANGED MY LIFE

I posted a review 1 year ago and this is my update. I now call this book my health bible. EVERY SINGLE THING THE DR RECOMMENDS IN THIS BOOK HAS WORKED FOR ME and the family and friends I have helped with The Dr's remedies. I live every day by this book. My Mother has stage 4/metastised/terminal cancer, so I spend 2-3 hours a day reading medical journals, researching health & nutrition topics and every new direction has come full circle back to what is recommended in this book. The Dr. presents the solutions but doesn't explain why they work in great detail so you don't get bogged down you just get right to the results. My Mom is in far better health than she was a year ago - she still golfs! UNEDUCATED READERS think it's crap, they're WRONG. After researching like crazy for the last year the why's are now crystal clear. This is NOT mumbo jumbo! ALL OF IT is backed by loads of scientific evidence. Research who he is/his qualifications, then Buy it, Don't judge, Do what he says (none of it can hurt you), and you will see the results too. This former head of the Center for Health Sciences in Moscow will be my Doctor for life!

Don't Know What Happened

When I bought this book probably a year ago there was about 220 reviews, 95% of them were 4 and 5 stars, I don't know how the reviews got all screwed up.

All in all, I'd say this is a great book; it's straightforward and easy to read. There's a lot of information on a lot of different types of diseases and health problems, and how a lot of different foods impact your health. I've read several books on health and fitness(ex. Living Foods for Optimum Health, Stu Mittleman's Slow Burn[Stu is a world-record breaking endurance athlete]) and damn near everything Tombak says coincides with what I've read previously. Some reviews claim he has no scientific backup, but it's kind of on the cover, next to his name, where it says "Ph.D." And in the book he goes into why he chose to study biology, anatomy and chemistry over a traditional medical school.

I'd like to address some of the more idiotic negative reviews I've seen on here, because I think they're a misrepresentation of what you really find in this book. One person says the author recommends using birch twigs to brush your teeth, and he doesn't, he mentions a group of buddhist monks or something somwhere who did use birch twigs, all he does is tell you why they did it and offers a more practical alternative. Another reviewer talks of how "silly" it is that things about your health can be indicated by your eye color(iridology)...if you saw someone with a pale face or a rash on their skin, you'd be quick to assume they were unhealthy in some way, but the idea that health could possibly impact eye color?! Proposterous!!

Anyway, be wary of the 1-star reviews, they all sound similar, one of them even posted a verbatim review of Tombak's other book.

I can't vouch for the effectiveness of EVERY remedy in the book, but I have implemented a few, like nutrition timing and food combining(don't eat your carbs with your proteins). Before I had to stuff myself to feel full, and if I wasn't stuffed I was hungry, and I'd be tired after I ate. Now I rarely get tired after eating, food feels like it digests much faster, and though I don't still feel stuffed an hour later, I'm not hungry just because my stomach's empty; satisfied.

The most comprehensive for its size.

I also consider the negative responses specious. Dr. Tombak's advice is both apposite and effective. Most people are not disciplined enough to follow all the advice in the book because it is replete with helpful information. However, if you glean only a handful of recommendations, such as "proper food combining" or "intestine cleansing," your body will thank you with better health and you will soon recommend this book to someone you care about.

Today the focus is on disease prevention and limiting prescribed drugs. To the reader - I implore you - educate yourself! Many non-pharmaceutical remedies work, not all are quackery. It's possible to have modern medicine coexist with common sense prevention.

A classic of 1960's comic art at its best!

Although many remember Steve Ditko's art work on Spider-man, a character he illustrated from the beginning for about 2 years, it is his work on Marvel's Doctor Strange that stands out.
This is a rare hardcover (never out in paperback) collection from 1992 reprinting the master mage's earliest stories - from Strange Tales 110-111 & 114-141, from 1963-1966.
The quality of the color reproduction is excellent, which is great as some of the early Marvel Comics' wildest colors and backgrounds were used and depicted when Dr. Strange journeyed to some other dimension to fight another (evil) magician.
Some of the Marvel Masterworks library are relatively slim but you get your money's worth with this one - 272 pages of mystical combat with Dormammu, Baron Mordo, Loki and others.
Sure, other reviewers are correct in pointing out the dialog and stories may seem corny to some raised on the "grittier, more realistic" stories from the 80's, but I feel that is comparing apples to oranges - like comparing say the movies Gladiator to Ben Hur - both classics but products of their times.
I recommend this as among the best of Marvel Masterworks library. Shame you can't still buy it over the counter at your friendly neighborhood comic book store.

The wildest, weirdest and best comic book art of the 1960's.

I recently read Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, and while doing so encountered this passage: "...and Kesey is old and haggard and his face is lopsided...and then Sandy looks and Kesey is young, serene, and his face is lineless, and round and smooth as a baby's as he sits for hours on end reading comic books, absorbed in the plunging Steve Ditko shadows of Dr. Strange attired in capes and chiaroscuro, saying: "How could they have known that this gem was merely a device to bridge DIMENSIONS!" I couldn't have said it better myself. This is the cosmic stuff that shaped the dreams of a generation.

Wonderful intro to Dr. Strange

This volume is a wonderful introduction to Dr. Strange, containing the classic original stories of my most favorite comic book hero. We also get the great first-time intros of some of the best villains--Baron Mordo, the Dread Dormammu, and Umar the Unrelenting.
The 'modern' reader, won't necessarily appreciate a lot of these things when compared to the current generation of writing in other comic books (like the edgy X-Men, Avengers, etc). After all, this was written in the 60's, so it's sometimes cheesy and has simplistic plots. But for a Dr. Strange fan, this volume is a necessary and refreshing addition.

About the Author
Mike Wells has been walking long-distance footpaths for 25 years, and a keen cyclist for 20. He has walked the major British paths, the GR5 from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean, and explored the Dolomites Alta Via routes in Italy. He has also walked in Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Norway and Chilean Patagonia. Starting with UK cycling routes, he soon moved on to long-distance routes in the rest of Europe and beyond, including a circumnavigation of Iceland and a ride across Cuba.

Very good guidance with this as our only book/map for the ...

Very good guidance with this as our only book/map for the entire route. Having more detailed maps always a good idea, but the cost and hassle is real. With a happy attitude and patience, and kindness, one can readily get directions to supplement the book from locals. Camping sites are usually readily available, but sometimes campgrounds are not convenient, or are closed, but flexibility on any long tour is necessary.

Don't leave home without it

Excellent English guide with great detail that some will live some will hate. When you are finding it difficult to follow the route this guide will be invaluable. While bike line series have great maps all the detail is in this book
