About the Author
Padraic Colum (1881 1972) was a poet, a playwright, and a leader of the Irish Renaissance, but he is best known for his works for children, including The Children of Odin and The Golden Fleece (a Newbery Honor Book).
Boris Artzybasheff (1899-1965) was a Russian-born American artist noted for his surreal designs. During his lifetime he illustrated everything from children's books to national magazine covers, and he continues to be admired for his versatility as well as his striking and unique artistic vision.
